Introduction to Skyrunning, Snowdonia

Skyrunning in Snowdonia is simply exploding right now! - so where better to start your journey than here with us. This introductory course is designed for trail or fell/mountain runners who are looking to try their hand at more technical terrain.

Now in its sixth year, our popular women's course helps build skills and confidence in the mountains and led is 'for-women-by-women'.

Day 1 focuses on movement technique for technical terrain* and mountain safety, along with advice on training and nutrition.

Day 2 will be more of a skyrunning journey and may incorporate part of a certified skyrace route. Your skyrunning guides will provide kit-check, navigation and route-planning so that you can focus on your running!

Our experienced local guides are Summer Mountain Leader qualified and Fell Running Association (FRA) accredited, with outdoor first aid certification. They have the skills and experience necessary to introduce you to this ever-growing running discipline having race experience across Scotland, the Lakes and Snowdonia.

A good level of fitness and a head for heights is an advantage - for ascending steep climbs and moving over technical rocky ground. But don't worry, there will be plenty of walking and chatting breaks along the way. If you can comfortably run 10km on trail then you will be more than fit enough to enjoy this weekend!

Girls on Hills is a 'no-frills' experience - we don't include food or accommodation, allowing you the flexibility to choose your own to suit travel logistics or budget. There is plenty of budget accommodation locally, including hostels/bunkhouses/pods. Please note you will need a transport/carshare arrangement to access the start of your run each day.

After booking, we will email you with information on what to wear and bring with you. We will also do a check kit and discuss final plans for the day over coffee before we start running!

* Please note that this introductory course does NOT cover extreme terrain such as Crib Goch. For guided scrambling days or skyrace recces please email about a bespoke booking.
